KARAPAIXO: AN EASTER PRESENT

I want to share the lovely present my godmother Asunta recently gave me. It is actually the same delight every year for Easter. Its name is karapaixo and it´s a big loaf of bread with a couple of eggs and chorizos (pork Spanish sausages) inside, all of it baked in the oven.

WHITE BASQUE COUNTRY

Yesterday, February 28th 2018, we had the whitest day in the Basque Country in decades. In fact, the Guggenheim museum of Bilbao, inaugurated in 1997, never got this amount of snow before. The first picture was been taken on the beach of La Concha in San Sebastián. Today the snow is almost gone already.

AMAZING MEDIEVAL FRESCOES IN ALAITZA

There is no Jesus in the medieval church of Alaitza. Instead, we find some amazing frescoes of war and rape in this little church of the 13th century, from the Romanesque period. They have been covered for years with some white paint and a baroque altarpiece until the parish priest of this village near Vitoria-Gasteiz scratched the wall and found them in the 80´s. Still today, they are a big mystery.
